Welcome to the ACRUNET Project Website

ACRUNET evolved from an informal transnational network of brown crab fishermen, their representative organisations, national development agencies and scientific bodies. This network identified the major problems besetting the industry, primarily in Europe, and sought funding to establish the network on a firmer, long-term footing to address the issues threatening the viability of a traditional way of life for fishing communities in peripheral coastal regions.
ACRUNET is a European project of transnational cooperation approved in 2012 under Priority 1 (Promote transnational entrepreneurial and innovation networks), Objective 2 (Enhance competitiveness and innovation capacities in maritime economy niches of excellence) of the Atlantic Area Programme, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
